ICE is a threat to our communities. We have seen it here, in the near-daily abductions across Western New York. We have seen it on our screens, in the hundreds of thousands of deportations over the last year and a half - to say nothing of the preceding decades - and the murders of dozens of people by DHS during that same period.

Now, ICE wants to detain more people right here in Batavia. Data shows that detentions increase when their bed capacity increases; this project will mean more families torn apart, more businesses destroyed, and more of our neighbors disappeared into the bowels of the camps.

We know that the conditions in Batavia are deplorable. ICE's Batavia immigration jail's conditions are similar to conditions in criminal jails. Our prison system is a cancer that spreads unchecked in America, and it comes with inadequate food, inhuman treatment, and intentional cruelty. From moldy bread to frigid temperatures, ICE prisons are designed to coerce people into signing deportation orders. Even humans with active asylum applications have chosen to return to countries where they face the threat of death and torture after spending time in the torture camps that blight our backyards.

ICE has murdered dozens of people both in and outside of detention. We know that the medical neglect, solitary confinement and violence are life-threatening and each bed that we limit is a neighbor less that they can hurt.

Please sign below to signal your opposition to ICE detention and the expansion of the Buffalo Federal Service Processing Center. Together, we will rise up and demand that DHS end its campaign of brutality against our neighbors and loved ones. We want to stop the build, and protect our neighbors from life-threatening detention!
